ITINERARY

AMSTERDAM AMONG HISTORY, ART AND GARDENS

 

A fascinating itinerary during the bloom of thousands of tulips, poppies, hyacinths and daffodils that color the fields between Haarlem and Leiden. To round off the tour, the astonishing expanse of Keukenhof in bloom that only opens two months a year.

Day 1

Arrival in Amsterdam where we will meet with our tour guide expert in gardens and landscape architecture. Transfer by bus in Ellecomand, and check in to Landgoed Groot Warnsborn ****, a charming 4 star hotel within a large noble property.

Dinner in hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast in hotel.

Full day excursion to the castles, and historic water gardens, in the province of Oversijssel.

Visit to Royal Palace of Het Loo. We walk through the Baroque Garden donated from the  Queen Beatrice D’Orange Nassau to the Dutch State in 1980: A must see are the  baroque galleries, secret gardens with palm and citrus trees, the beautiful fountains, and oranges in bloom, (orange-Nassau).

Time for lunch, (self service restaurant), in the seventeenth-century orangery inside the palace.

In the afternoon we head to the private Castle of Middachten (1695), surrounded by canals, water lilies, with its elegant orchard and Espalier, ancient and modern roses, and  the gardens designed by Hugo Poortman in the early twentieth century. Guided tour of the seventeenth-century castle adorned by fined furnishing and paintings.

Return to the Hotel

Day 3

Breakfast in hotel and check out.

In the morning, visit to Kröller-Müller Museum. The museum is located in the center of De Hoge Veluwe National Park, and houses a world-famous 19th-20th century art collection. It is considered the Dutch temple of the nineteenth-century painting and the cutting-edges of the early twentieth century, with inside the world’s largest collection of Vincent Van Gogh, (paintings such as  “self portrait”, “Arles bridge”, “The Reaper  “,” Flowers in a blue vase “) and  works of art by Gaugin,  Gaugin, Matisse, Cezanne, Seurat, Pissarro, Picasso, Morandi. Outside, the interesting sculpture garden.

Transfer to Amsterdam, and sightseeing of the city.

Check in to Hotel Estherea ****.  This charming hotel is located in the central area, and overlooks one of the most beautiful canals of Amsterdam.

Dinner in the restaurant adjacent to the hotel (not included). Return to the hotel.

Day 4

Breakfast in hotel

Transfer to the gardens Keukenhof, a historic park that extends over 32 hectares of land full of tulips in bloom, hyacinths, daffodils and other bulbous plants. Lunch, (not included), in the park.

Return to Amsterdam for an exclusive tour of private gardens and private residences by the landscape architect Andrè Ancion. We will discover exclusive gardens hidden behind some private residences in Amsterdam, and 17th century private residences near the Golden Bend.

Brunch inside a private residence.

Return to the hotel.

In the evening, we embark on a motorboat for a ride through the canals of Amsterdam

Dinner in a typical restaurant in Amsterdam (not included).

Return to the Hotel.

Day 5

Breakfast in hotel and check out. Transfer to the airport and end of the tour.
