In the early morning guided tour of Chateau d’Hex. The history of the castle is engaging, and over time, it was converted from a hunting lodge into a residence with orangery and orchards. In the middle of 900, with the arrival of Ferdinanda Diana, who was the wife of the new owner Count d’Ursel, the castle went through a new period. Passionate about plants, but especially about roses, Mrs. Diana recovered forgotten old bushes, planted rare botanical species, and populated the estate with climbing roses, transforming Hex into a paradise of roses. In 1997, it has been honoured as the Award of Excellence Garden.

The castle houses a collection of ancient roses, one of the most interesting in Belgium: from botanical roses to wild roses and more sophisticated ones.

Near Maastricht, we will visit the picturesque Heerenhof Garden.  The long narrow garden is divided up into several linked rooms: a Landscape Garden, a Round Garden, the so called “green room” and a symmetrical garden. Just behind the main residence, is placed a small terraced garden with subtropical plants. Heerenhof combines the “male” part of the park, in other words its formal quintessence, with the “feminine” elements of the residence, where everything reminds of a warm and welcoming country house.

Next is the visit to the Deferme garden, very English in its style. It belongs to the garden designers Dina Deferme and Tony Pirovano. The garden is full of surprises, where each part is fascinating for its unique atmosphere.

Return to Brussels and dinner, ( included),  in the restaurant next to the Hotel.

The first place we visit is Les Terrasses du Rouge Cloitre, beautiful private garden near Brussels and characterized by terraces, a swimming pool, a greenhouse, a vegetable garden, a small orchard and French boulevards. The owner has taken advantage of the natural gradient of the land to create an area covered up with flowers, where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the ponds of Rouge-Cloitre. Being near the Sonian forest, the garden is frequently visited by ducks, herons and other wild animals.

The next site to see is Annevoie Garden , classified as heritage of Vallonia: it is the only water garden in Belgium. In 1758, its creator Charles Alexis de Montpellier was really skilful to use the high water pressure coming from four springs, a stream, and the unevenness of the ground to make his project a success without the help of any machinery. The tour through the 12 hectares of land with water fountains, waterfalls, canals, ponds, reveals an exciting experience.

After lunch, we visit Freyr Castle . Built in Versailles-style, it is located on the banks of the Meuse in the Ardennes. These gardens are the best French ones in Belgium, occupying a striking natural and wild area of ​​10 hectares. Around 1760, Guillaume, Philippe of Beaufort, and Spontin, created these gardens.  Today they are precious testimonies of the glories of the eighteenth century fasti, in a balanced and symmetrical structure. They features  a water basin, flowerbeds, a garden of hedges,  shaped limes inspired by the theme of cards game, and a pavilion in Louis XVI style that boasts refined plasterwork done by the Italian brothers Moretti. True “rarity”of the park is the tercentenary thirty-three oranges coming from the court of King Stanislas of Poland.

Return to Brussels in the evening and dinner, (included), in a restaurant. Back to the hotel.

Early in the morning we arrive in Gant, a wonderful city that features remarkable historic districts. Considered one of the largest and richest cities during the medieval time, Gant is situated where the Rivers Scheldt and Lys flow into one another. With its large harbour and the beautiful university, the city has many historical sites.

We Visit the Saint Bavone’s Cathedral to see the absolute masterpiece The polyptych  of the Mystic Lamb” by Jan van Eyck and Hubertus, among the greatest works of world art.

Transfer to Bruges, one of the best preserved medieval towns in Europe as  it was  not damaged by the bombs that destroyed many of the historic and architecture sites of the continent during the First and Second World War. It houses many architectural attractions in Gothic style in addition to wonderful buildings in Romanesque, Renaissance, Rococo, Baroque and Neoclassical style. The main attractions are located in the old town centre where it is easy to get around on foot. It was declared” UNESCO World Human Heritage site” due to its rich historical and cultural heritage. Visit to Groeninge Museum. It is a municipal museum of cultural assets of Bruges, in a building of 1930, which features masterpieces of ancient and modern Flemish paintings.  The museum was built above the ancient Eechkout Abbey, and houses an exceptional collection rich of  “Flemish Primitives” paintings  such as van Eyck, Rogier van der Weyden, Gerald David, Hugo van der Goes, Jan Memling, and the great Hieronymus Bosch, whose famous work “final judgement” is very important.

Next, visit to   Our Ladies Church and Beghinaggio Church of Bruges founded in 1245 by Countess of Fiandra, Margaret of Constantinople. It was declared “UNESCO World Heritage Site” in 2002. Here you can feel a mystical atmosphere of peace, reinforced by the graphics of the white facades, red roofs, green grass, daffodils and blacks trunks that rise into the sky.

After the tour, transfer to Damme for a nice walk. Quiet and peaceful town on the outskirts of Bruges,

Transfer to Haacht-Wespelaar to visit Herkenrode Arboretum. This important garden belongs to the Viscount Philippe de Spoelberch, an eminent dendrologist and formerly vice-president of the International Society of Horticultural Science (ISS), which has one of the richest botanical collections of woodland plants in Europe.

Near the house, there is an ornamental garden, a vegetable garden and nurseries.

The total area of ​​the botanical garden covers 10 hectares: there are 5000 trees and 3000

Bushes of different varieties, a collection of rhododendrons (about 700 varieties), maples (about 200 varieties), magnolias (200 varieties), cornaceous (50 varieties), Styrax and Stewartia. Jacques Wirtz played an important role in the creation of the garden.

In the afternoon visit to Van Buuren museum. They were refined collectors who have furnished their home in Art Deco style with fine furniture, carpets and precious works of art that can be admired in the company of the guide.

The house is surrounded by a garden of about 1.5 hectares, which consists of several “rooms” in which four original creations stand out: “The garden of the big rose,” the picturesque garden “by Jules Buyssens,” The labyrinth “, and” the garden of the heart “by René Pèchére. In autumn 2000 the landscape architect Jacques Virtz

At the end of the day, return to Brussels and dinner in a restaurant adjacent to the Hotel.

Here you will meet your tour guide

In the early morning, transfer to Antwerp. It is the second biggest city in Belgium after the capital Brussels and  the largest of Flanders. It is known for having given birth to the artist  Pieter Paul Rubens whose work according to some critics “can be considered the archetype of the baroque”. After a trip to Italy, Rubens returned to Antwerp where he died in 1640.

Here aristocratic Art Nouveau residences, neo-Renaissance villas, imposing medieval castles and imajestic medieval castles, form  a magical scenery along the numerous and one of the best cafés and bars of Belgium.

Visit to Notre Dame Cathedral (Onze Lieve Vrouwkathedraal), considered  among the most important Gothic architectural structures  in Europe. The pictorial heritage is exceptional, especially for the presence of some masterpieces by Rubens, such as Saint Paulus’ Church, Dominican church which preserves two splendid works by Rubens, and Saint Jacobs’s Church, where there are numerous masterpieces of furniture and paintings, including the splendid Mary of Sacred Conversation, which is a work during the peak of Rubens’ career.  Pieter Paul Rubens is buried in the Church.

Afterwards visit to Rubenshuis, the house where Rubens lived in his last thirty years.
