PADOVA AND TREVISO
Historic gardens and green parterres

Day 1

Arrival at Padova train Station or  Airport.

Visit to  Villa Pisani in Strà. The magnificent  villa of the nobles Pisani family,  overlooks the shores of the Brenta Riviera. After having hosted in its114 rooms doges, kings and emperors, it is now a national museum that houses works of art and furniture of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, including the masterpiece by Giambattista Tiepolo “Gloria of the Pisani family”. The frescoes is on the ceiling of the gallery. The park is near the  Brenta River, and covers an area of 11 hectares with a  perimeter of approximately 1,500 meters. The park was realized before the villa by the architect Girolamo Frigimelica de’ Roberti from Padova. He was also author of the famous maze. The layout of the park, in some ways, recalls  the French model applied by André Le Nôtre in Versailles, intertwining with the Venetian tradition of the walled garden, whose windows overlook  the Brenta River. The park has been completely restored and boasts a  botanical collection.

After the visit, check in to Hotel Plaza**** in Padova.

Day 2

Breakfast in hotel.

Transfer to Asolo to visit Villa Maser.

Villa Maser, ( also known as Villa Barbaro), is one of the masterpieces of Andrea Palladio, (1508-80), declared UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is located in the middle of the  farm. Its historic Cellar produces great qualities of wine. The Roses, wisteria, and climbing bignonia welcome anyone at the  entrance of the villa. The visit continues inside with six frescoes by Paolo Veronese, which represent his most important work  such as   the Nymphaeum with stucco by Alessandro Vittoria.

In the afternoon, visit to Villa Cà Marcello in Piombino Dese.

It is a splendid example of well- preserved Venetian villa, thanks to the  noble Venetian family of Marcello, who built it in 1500. It was then enlarged, furnished, and delicately decorated in 1700. It is located among the beautiful eighteenth century park. The Villa is still keeping its original furniture and antique objects and is enriched with large paintings in stucco on the gallery , works of Giambattista Crosato, important Venetian frescoes painter of 700’.

Breakfast in hotel.

Visit to the garden of Cuntess Marina Emo of Capodilista in Rivella.

The villa is situated at the entrance of the town hall. At first glance, it shows all the elegance of  Palladian columns and the geometric severity of the beautiful green gardens that surround it, full of roses, magnolias and divided by two long ponds full of lilies.

Afterwards, visit to the garden of  Valzanzibio, Galzignano Terme of  Villa Barbarigo Pizzoni Ardemani.

Villa Barbarigo, (also known as Barbarigo Pizzoni Ardemani), is a Venetian villa built in the seventeenth century, commissioned by the noble  Venetian  Francesco Zuane Barbarigo. Its park covers an area of 15 hectares and represents  a rare example of a symbolic seventeenth-century garden, with a complex system of fountains, which are still working. The garden contains over seventy statues with didactic mottos engraved in the base  by Enrico Merengo,  including  the personification of Tempo, Endymion, Argo, Tifeo, and Polyphemus. The park is crossed by trails that lead to the fountains, (all together are  sixteen, including those of the Rivers, Eolo, and venti), the maze in the boxwood, lakes, streams, gallery of Caprini and small buildings.

There are about 800 plants, and several species of rare trees: 24 varieties of conifers, 16 ever-green trees, and other  types of shrubs. The garden was recently honored with the international prize “IL più Bel Giardino d’Europa”, (The Most Beautiful Garden of Europe).

Afterwards,  visit to Villa Pisani in Vescovana owned by Mrs. Mariella Bolognesi Scalabrin.
