ITINERARY

VALLE D’AOSTA

Day 1

Meeting at the Torino Porta Nuova Train Station. Transfer by Grand Turismo coach to Val d’Aosta, in the National Park Grand Paradiso. Arrival at Alpino Paradisia Garden, 1.700 m above sea level. There, you will meet with the tour  guide and naturalist Nicola Gerard, to visit the collections of flora in full bloom such as the Aethionema thomasianum and Astragalus. The garden is set around an extraordinary lake with spectacular views overlooking Gran Paradiso. The tour continues to the striking Lillaz waterfalls, theirs height reach150 meters. Around the waterfalls, you can enjoy the grasslands full of blue gentian in bloom, (Gentian kochiana), edelweiss and genepy. Transfer to Courmayeur, check in to Cresta et Duc Hotel****, for dinner Typical Val d’Aosta meal.

Day 2

Buffet breakfast in hotel and transfer to Mount Bianco funicular station, to reach Pavillon, and walk through  the Alpino di Saussurea Garden, (2173 m above sea level), situated on a glacial promontory of Mount Bianco. You will meet with the botanist in order to visit the various botanical sites, including the natural environments of the rock, local plants, exotic plants, and herbs. You will also see Alpine Saussurea in full bloom. Nice walk to see lilies and gentian in bloom, in the middle of alpine grasslands.

Afterwards, back to  Courmayeur by funicular, and then transfer to  Piccolo San Bernardo by coach, (2170 m above sea level). On the border between Val d’ Aosta and Savoia, you can admire the oldest alpine garden of Italy, Chanousia, founded in 1897 by monks. The tour guide, expert in botany, will show you the different floral environments such as the peat bog, alpine grassland, cliffs, and calcareous scree.

Return to Torino Porta Nuova train station by coach.
