ITINERARY

TRIP TO LUNIGIANA

An exclusive tour which includes architectural treasures, unique beautiful landscapes, villas and gardens of this splendid corner of Italy.

Day 1

Departure from Milano Malpensa Airport or Milano Centrale train Station for Corlecchio. You are welcome by Giuseppe and Gianna Rodolfi in a house of the early 1900s,. You can admire the Patrician villas of Parma, and  a  modern garden but at the same time with  ancient essences. The bus arrives at the gate of the house.

Transfer to Sarzana.

Time for independent lunch. It is a charming pastry shop located next to the cathedral, from where the tour starts  to visit the old village. If someone does not want to walk, they can wait at the cathedral until the end of the tour. Your Tour Guide will be Professor Sergio Del Santo. Sarzana is the second most populated town of the province of La Spezia. The residential area is located just a few kilometers from the coast of the ligure sea, and the border of Tuscany Region. Its geographical position has made Sarzana a point of contact for different customs, traditions and stories. There are still visible traces of the Roman castrum (fortress), with the arrangement dictated by the Cardo and Decumanos typical of the village, especially in the perpendicularity of its streets.

Such regularity has gradually been lost over time with the expansion of the village. The city still retains the image of the original medieval village in spite of the later works of fortification of the walls, towers and the Cittadella, which heavily modified the urban layout of the original village, giving it the appearance of a walled city, dominated by the massive fortress of Firmafede.

Departure for Bocca di Magra, at the mouth of the river( Bocca di Magra) where you will visit the garden Gli Olivi, on the hillsides of Mount Marcello, with breathtaking views over  Apuan Alps. The owner Mrs. Idina Biso, will show you the garden full of Mediterranean trees, grapevines and olive trees.

Departure for Lerici and check-in to  Hotel Shelley e delle Palme, located on the city’s seafront.

Dinner in hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast in  hotel.

Departure for Monte Marcello , and visit to the Park of Arte Ambientale in Monte Marcello, located in La Marrana.  It is one of the most interesting places where you can admire the environmental  works of art  realized  by international artists. The beginning of its history dates back to 1997, when Grazia  and Gianni Bolongaro decided to transform their house of Monte Marcello, and the spacious land  surrounding it into a meeting place for artists and lovers of contemporary art. The activity program, which began with the exhibition of Persian Hossein Golba, has a distinguishing feature: the creation of works specially designed for the individual spots chosen by the artists. The particular attention to the relationship between the works of art and environment has been the stimulus for the creation of the Park and the continuous enrichment of the territory of La Marrana: evidence of the validity of the initial idea: the art blends with the  landscape in harmony, making  the park one of a kind.

Transfer to  Villa Pratola , owned by the successors of marquis Remedi,  in Ponzano Magra near Sarzana, welcome by  Mrs Giovanna Rangoni.

The lunch  will be held in the villa,  built in XVII century.

Departure for Pontremoli where the marquise Dosi Delfini will show you her property.

After the visit, departure for Milano Centrale train Station or Milano Malpensa Airport.

End of the tour.
